December brought quite a lot of snow to the Palouse and our view from Paradise Ridge turned into a winter wonderland.  Our plants loved the good snow cover they received last winter and this December snowfall made it appear that we were in for more of the same.

This photo was taken a few weeks ago, so now, with the lack of new snowfall and warming temperatures, the fields look windswept with only patches of snow remaining on the northern and sides of the hills.  The drifiting that occurs on the Palouse from our high winds means that even with no new snowfall for months some areas will have a snow blanket well into spring.  We're crossing our fingers for more snow in February...after all, the groundhog DID see his shadow and we would like just a couple more days on our skis this winter!
