A local Moscow/Pullman Book Club visitied our Palouse Prairie to discuss  the book "The Prairie Keepers" by Marcy Houle.  The book is on Houle's research of the Zumwalt Prairie, a "remnant of the Palouse", which is isolated by the Wallowa Mountains and Hell's Canyon and located in northeastern Oregon.

The Palouse Prairie on Paradise Ridge was in bloom for the Book Club.  They were able to visualize what the author saw while doing her research on hawks and prairie health.  For more information on this book go to http://oregonstate.edu/dept/press/o-p/PrairieKeepers.html and http://oregonprogress.oregonstate.edu/print/book/export/html/83 .   It is a book about a graduate student's research but reads like a novel.
