In June the local chapter of "Great Old Broads for Wilderness" came up to the Ridge to do a service project. The Broads is a national organization that aims to "keep it wild for future generations." They braved high winds and steep slopes to help us out with weed control. We were so excited to have this group help us pull Tumble Mustard (Sisymbrium altisissimum) on the western slope of Paradise Ridge. Tumble mustard is also known as Jim Hill Mustard and is a highly competitive non-native plant. ![]() ![]() This group of ladies tirelessly pulled this weed throughout the morning and by lunch we had numerous bags full of this problematic and undesirable plant. ![]() Jean is pictured above eradicating mustard along the road, nice work! The Broads saved us hours of work and we welcome them back anytime! Thanks again for your dedication to wildlands! Learn more about the Broads at www.greatoldbroads.org. |
