The weather is hot! and that means the seeds are busy ripening and drying out.  We have harvested the Tall cinquefoil (Potentilla arguta), Slender cinquefoil (Potentilla gracilis), Oregon sunshine (Eriophyllum lanatum), Sitcky purple geranium (Geranium viscosissimum), Blue wild rye (Elymus glaucus), and Little sunflower (Helianthella uniflora) recently and we continue to harvest the Prairie smoke (Geum triflorum), Lewis flax (Linum lewisii), Hairy Albert (Hieracium albertinum), Taper-leaf penstemon (Penstemon attenuatus), and Clarkia (Clarkia pulchella).

Pictured below is Oregon sunshine harvest.

First, Matt took the power scythe and cut down the plants while Christy helped him place the material on the tarp.

Once the tarp was full we carried it into the shed where it was spread out to dry completely.

Then, once dry we placed the material in this large white tote that Matt and Carl loaded into the truck to take back to our seed cleaning facility.  (is it just me or does Matt look like he got the short end of the stick!)

Pretty soon we will spend our afternoons in the granary cleaning the seed to get them ready for your fall seeding projects.  More warm weather is predicted so we look forward to more busy weeks of harvest!
