The collecting crew is ready to head out to do some wild seed collection on the ridge.  During this time of year we can't go anywhere it seems without at least 2 or 3 bags attached to our belt.  When collecting seeds on Paradise Ridge we take several bags to collect the seeds of the plants that we are focused on and we ALWAYS carry a weed bag as well so that we can pull and bag those pesky invasive weeds if and when we see them.  This time of year most plants, including the weeds have set their seed and so we must bag the weeds to prevent them from releasing their seed.

Wild collection is an important part of our seed increase project.  Through wild collections we can enhance the genetic diversity of our plants and are able to make plants and seeds available to our customers that we don't yet grow on the plot or in fields.  Sustainable harvesting on the ridge is our motto so we are sure to leave enough seed to maintain the seed bank and provide food for wildlife and insects.
