While on the hunt for some "ready to harvest" Northern lights seeds (a.k.a. Galium boreale) Ann, Katie and I stumbled across the lovely Prairie Gentian (Gentiana affinis).  It never ceases to amaze me that this gorgeous bright blue flower can bloom so vibrantly during the hottest and driest part of summer.  Those roots must go deep.

We took a few moments to pose with the blossoms but the heat quickly enticed us back into the shade.

In other news, we continue to harvest Silky lupine (Lupinus sericeus), Blanketflower (Gaillardia aristata), Clarkia (Clarkia pulchella), and Wild hollyhock (Sidalcea oergana) on the plot, and our field of Western yarrow (Achillea millefolium) was recently swathed by Wayne which will be put through the combine once it is completely dry.
Happy Harvest!
