The best part of our job, especially when working on a Sunday, is being able to enjoy the abundant wildlife on the Palouse.  Yesterday while working at our seed-increase plot I saw a Wild turkey tom trying to get the attendation of a few resident females.

A few minutes later I saw the elousive and suspected rabbit jump into our seedling holding pit and begin nibbling on seedlings ready to be planted out in our seed-increase plot.  Who said rabbits were "cute"?  Several hours a flash of blu caused my head to whip around and see a Western Blubird perch on post.

Later in the day I "had" to check on the native plants on the prairie.  The bloom dates are a little behind on must of the species due to our cold spring but there was still a rainbow of colors on the rolling hills.

Spring Colors on the Palouse I was also able to closely observe a white-breated nuthatch on a ponerosa pine, hear the calls of multiple bluebirds and see many piles of moose dripping.  I was a good day on the Palouse!
